Fluid Words
Series of drawings and objects 2010 ~

Fluid Words are like deconstructed maps in search for a perfect home. Traced on the poetic of the written word like a visual diary, they wander in the flux of my experiences and around the contours of my imagination. Here, I insert the collage of cartographic maps of various regions of Japan, especially idealized regions like Mount Fuji. Mount Fuji became a classical of Japanese Art during Edo period (1603-1868), when it was reproduced extensively in the Japanese woodblock prints Ukiyo-e. Since then, it has become the key element in the construction of the collective imaginary of Japanese people also of Japanese descendents in Brazil. Along with maps, I introduce the poetic of Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935), classical of Portuguese literature, with poems that hide-reveal the nostalgia of an existing-absent place and the memory of words and native language.
